Some new, fresh sounding house cuts from “Ejeca” and “Citizen” courtesy of the “Waze & Odyssey” operated “Street Tracks” Label. The second cut from the unknown to me “Citizen” is actually a monster. Quality all around!

Native Instruments officially came forward today with product refreshes and a new addition to their line-up. First up Battery 4 gets a long overdue overhaul. The UI has been completely redone and the green clinical look is gone. It’s replaced with a mostly straight forward brushed metal design combined with a colorful, but subdued cell matrix area. Overall it’s a welcomed update that brings the VST in line with NI’s current design direction. For a list of what the software is now capable of check out NI’s Battery 4 product page.
Next we have the brand new Monark Reaktor Ensemble. It’s touted as a “Monophonic synth for bass, leads, percussion and more”. It sports a matte gray UI with some chunky looking retro nobs. The demo for this thing produced mostly fat sounding, chunky noises with a lot of character and teeth. I am curious to see if a synth like this can make any headway in todays over crowded market. I’m sure if it takes off and becomes popular we’ll start to hear about. Both of these are included in the release of Komplete 9 Ultimate and Komplete 9. The former contains 65 products and 370 GBs of samples while the latter is a trimmed down version delivering 33 products and 120 GBs of samples.

A very tasty cut from back in October that has made a lasting impression. Dark and dubby throughout, “As I See” glides along smoothly while maintaining a deep punch. Track elements are extremely well spaced providing a ton of room for the groove to shuffle along. The sultry female vocal blips are laced throughout and help to ground the track in deep house territory, but this one is hard to categorize. There is no question however, that it would excel on any educated, late-night dance floor.
